 UPDATE ON Legislative Bills:

LB910: (Secure funding for the Dog and Cat Inspection Program):  PASSED

LB910  passed final reading with 43 aye votes, 2 nay (Senators Stuthman and Louden nay votes). Two senators did not vote (Senators Lathrop and Nordquist) and two senators were absent (Senators Pahls and Harms).  The governor signed our bill on March 17th. Thanks to Senator Carlsen for sponsoring this bill.

LB252: PASSED

LB 252 was sponsored by State Senator Abbie Cornett, and makes it a crime to possess certain equipment for the intended use of animal fighting.  Senator Cornett has sponsored numerous other bills in previous years.

LB1084: PASSED
LB 1084 was merged into LB 712, and passed by the State Legislature.  The importance of this law is that owners of animals seized for living in cruelty conditions will now be financially responsible for the care of these animals during the court proceedings.  Prior to this law, the taxpayers of the county where the animals were seized footed the bill. Thanks to Senator Karpisek for his efforts on this important law.
