Nebraska Voters for Companion Animals
is a grassroots animal welfare organization founded in March 2009. We are strong in our conviction to educate
the public about animal abuse and end the suffering of companion animals.
Our immediate focus is to educate Nebraskans about the cruel practices of many commercial dog breeders in
our state and lobby for stronger laws and stricter enforcement of current laws. While Nebraska has made some progress, there
are still many animals suffering. We need your help to make Nebraska a more compassionate and humane state.
Nebraska has approximately 380 licensed dog breeding facilities. At
last count there are approximately 13,300 breeder dogs suffering in these Nebraska facilities. The time is now to attack the
root of the problem in order to prevent thousands more from suffering in years to come. This is a monumental task as
we are fighting a high volume, profit-oriented industry that has become embedded in our society, yet so well hidden from the
general public.
Members receive up to
date information on legislative action in Nebraska, and the voting records of all Nebraska senators on animal-related
bills. In 2009 several bills were proposed that would have protected companion animals. Most failed to advance. In 2010, Nebraska
nearly lost its State Inspection Program, but for the voice of the people, it was retained. We need
more animal-friendly legislators in our Nebraska Senate and more people to speak up for the animals!
Join us and help us win the laws the animals deserve!
